Jill Richardson’s Legacy
“Nearly eight years ago my wonderful husband died of cancer. He was under palliative care in our home, which went as well as one can expect during such a time. It was when he could no longer lift himself out of his ejectable chair that this task became unmanageable. I was unable to give him the care he deserved and needed by myself.” said Jill Richardson, when asked what motivated her to get involved with a hospice movement in Clarington.
“Two years after Terry died, I decided I had to do something with my grief and anger so that other people would not have the same experience that we did. I became involved as a board member of Durham Region Hospice.”
Through her tireless drive and determination, Jill led the charge in advocating for Hospice care in our community. Her dedication to the Board, volunteerism and as a champion for this cause saw an idea become a reality. Jill got to see construction work begin on Marigold Hospice Care before passing in July 2024.
